Wall and Ceiling Lining RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) is a process that recognises your existing experience in the wall and ceiling lining trade. If you have practical experience working with plasterboard and lining systems, you may be eligible for the CPC31220 Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining without attending full classroom training.

Key Information:
  1. Earn a nationally recognised qualification based on your experience.
  2. Assesses your skills across installation, finishing, and repair of wall and ceiling systems.
  3. Suited for tradespeople with 2–3+ years of relevant industry experience.

This RPL pathway is ideal for those who have worked as plasterers, drywallers, or internal linings installers in either residential or commercial construction. If you've gained experience through employment or as a subcontractor, you can apply.

Key Information:
  1. Minimum 2 years practical experience in wall and ceiling installation.
  2. No prior formal training required.
  3. Must supply evidence: job photos, references, task lists, or supervisor statements.

An assessor will review the evidence you submit, conduct an interview or competency conversation, and confirm that you meet the requirements of the CPC31220 qualification. You will be assessed across 29 units (22 core, 7 electives).

Key Information:
  1. Submit evidence: photos, video, reference letters, work history.
  2. Demonstrate understanding of safety, materials, installation techniques, and finishing.
  3. Interview or observation may be conducted to confirm your skills.

Gaining CPC31220 through RPL helps validate your skills, enhances your job prospects, and opens the door to licensing or supervisory roles. You avoid repeating training in areas where you are already competent.

Key Information:

  2. Cost-effective: pay only for assessment, not unnecessary training.
  3. Better eligibility for contractor licenses or QBCC registration (check your state).

The RPL process for CPC31220 can take between 2 and 6 weeks depending on how quickly you can supply the necessary documentation and availability for assessment activities.

Key Information:

  2. Delays may occur if additional evidence or observation is required.
  3. Our team will assist you in preparing your portfolio to speed up the process.
